Large and estate collections

Have a long list or a collection of gear?

You do not need to enter a large collection one item at a time. Email a list, spreadsheet, or clear photos of the gear. Include your name, phone number, and any model or condition details you know, and our used-equipment team will follow up.

Common questions

What Milford Photo buys, how evaluation works, and what to expect after you submit a quote.

What camera gear does Milford Photo regularly buy?

As a general guide, Milford Photo buys recent equipment - typically five years old or newer - that is clean and fully functional. This includes DSLR camera bodies, autofocus DSLR lenses that are compatible with current cameras, and camera-manufacturer DSLR flashes. We consider items showing moderate normal use through very clean or like-new condition.

What equipment does Milford Photo not buy?

Milford Photo does not buy movie equipment, audio equipment, studio lighting equipment, darkroom equipment, large-format cameras, or Polaroid equipment.

What vintage or specialty gear might Milford Photo buy?

We may buy vintage and estate camera, lens, and accessory collections, including select Leica, Zeiss, Rollei, and Hasselblad equipment. We also consider some 35mm and medium-format film cameras and lenses. Vintage and specialty equipment should be clean and working.

Can Milford Photo evaluate an estate or inherited camera collection?

Yes. Milford Photo can help evaluate estate and inherited photographic collections and provide a fair, accurate valuation for equipment we may purchase. Email a list, spreadsheet, or clear photos to sell@milfordphoto.com, and include your name and phone number so our used-equipment team can follow up.

Can I email a long list of items or pictures instead of entering everything?

Yes. Send a list, spreadsheet, or clear photographs to sell@milfordphoto.com. Include model names when you know them, notes about condition, included batteries, chargers, caps, hoods, cases, instructions, and other accessories, plus your name and phone number.

How do I check my order status?

Use the Check order status page with your quote number and email address to get a secure status link.

How long does inspection take?

Your gear is typically evaluated within 1-2 business days after it arrives at Milford Photo. When evaluation is complete, you will receive an email with your final quote.

What is the difference between cash and store credit?

The cash offer is the amount Milford Photo can pay by check or PayPal after inspection. Store credit gives you 10% more and is available after your final quote is accepted.

Is shipping free?

Quotes above $250 qualify for a prepaid inbound shipping label by email. The quote and shipping label are valid for 7 days. You may also bring your gear to the store.

What should I include with my gear?

Send the gear, battery, charger, caps, hoods, straps, cables, case or pouch, instructions, and other standard original manufacturer accessories when applicable. Missing original accessories may change the final quote.

How should I pack my gear?

Pack each item securely with padding so it cannot move inside the box. If you mail your gear, print the quote page and place it inside the box so Milford Photo can match the shipment to your quote.

Can I bring my gear to the store?

Yes. Choose the store drop-off option and bring the gear to Milford Photo at 22 River Street, Milford, CT 06460. Staff can use the same quote to check in and evaluate the items at the counter. For help coordinating a walk-in evaluation, call (203) 882-3415.

Can the final quote change?

Yes. Milford Photo verifies condition, exact model, working condition, and included original manufacturer accessories when your gear arrives. If the condition is different from quoted or original accessories are missing, you will receive a revised quote that you can accept or decline. Declined shipped gear can be returned to a U.S. address by UPS Ground.

How do I get paid?

After Milford Photo evaluates your gear, you will receive a final quote by email. Once you accept it, you can choose how you would like to be paid and enter your payment details.

How long does it take to get paid?

Store credit is available after your final quote is accepted. PayPal payments are issued within 1-2 business days and usually appear after PayPal marks the payment completed; PayPal may review or hold some payments depending on the account. If you choose check, Milford Photo mails it within 1-2 business days.

What if I cannot find my exact item?

Choose the closest match only if it is the same model. If the item is not listed, select the manual-review or other option and Milford Photo can review it directly. You can also email details or photos to sell@milfordphoto.com.
